But most importantly, these 7 ways you can reach out to B2B customer will forge a relationship with your prospect a respectful, genuine, and spam-free way.
You want to make your prospects to feel fortunate to have found you, rather than, willing to do anything to avoid you. So, in this guide, we will uncover few golden rules you can employ to treat people in a friendly and professional manner just like you would want others do to you.

Find 10 Companies:Contact Persons You Want to Do Business With

1. Find 10 Companies/Contact Persons You Want to Do Business With

You want to find an ideal prospect. You want to know what industry they are in. How large should they be in order to fit and afford your business products and services?
Similarly, don’t go and hunt for 1000 of different prospectus. If 10 is good, then stick to that number as you cannot give your undivided attention to all those 1000 customers.
Starting with small lets you work smarter, complete the process faster, and make a great impact.

Inquire About the SEO Consultant and Accept No Secrets Get active ONLINE as a person, NOT as a salesman

2. Get active ONLINE as a person, NOT as a salesman

– Setup up a Google Alerts to receive daily summary of news, reports, and other information from the list of 10 companies and right into your inbox.
Through Google Alert, you can quickly scan to see if there is any relevant news you can respond to. If there are, grab a note card, jot down a quick and relevant message, drop your business card, and send it off.
Likewise, visit their website to know if they participate in social networks. People often participate in Social Media to engage with like-minded people, get attention, and promote their message and brand.
So, follow them on Twitter, or “Like” their Facebook page. Are they in Google+? Well, give “+1” on appropriate updates. Do they have a blog? Find out what topics they write about, leave a thoughtful comment – but refrain from leaving any hints of sales.

Use LinkedIn to Find Common Contacts

3. Use LinkedIn to Find Common Contacts

If you’re in LinkedIn, use its search tool to find more connections. On the right side, scroll down to see a sandbox of connections. At the top, you will see any connections you may have in common.
This is a precious piece of information because you can now ask the person who is in common to make an introduction.
When it comes to introduction, a face-to-face introduction is always the best method; however, an email introduction is “okay” too. After you get a face-to-face or email introduction, it’s probably a good time to ask the person to connect with you on LinkedIn.

Don’t Spam People, Instead Court them

4. Don’t Spam People, Instead Court them

After you’ve made a connection to contacts on your list, court them, and not spam them! Remember, there are several stages the prospect needs to go in order to become an ideal client.
If you are tempted to skip a stage, you may get customers who doesn’t value you or your products and your services and is less than happy to buy. If you try to prematurely skip steps, like trying to sell before building value, you may also risk damaging the relationship you have built with them earlier.
Worse still, if someone in common had made the introduction on your behalf, they won’t be eager to make another introduction for you once they hear you went for hard sell with their colleague or friend.

Show Genuine interest!

5. Show Genuine interest!

Find ways to Strengthen the Relationship

6. Find ways to Strengthen the Relationship

As you begin to learn more about your ideal prospect, you will also likely find out who their ideal prospect is. Is there someone you know you could refer to them who requires their products and services?
Have you come across white papers, articles, or blog posts, that you think would be of interest to them? Likewise, if they have something commendable, and if you have a connection with a reporter, you may want to look to make for an introduction.
Have you read an interesting business book? Why not send them 10 copies of it to each of your client in the top 10 list? Include a note mentioning what you think is interesting about the book and what they might find interesting.
For example, I use stickers with my business information on the front. I stick them on the books I give out. So, after months, they will still remember who sent them.

7. Add Another 5 Companies on Your List, Every month

At the end of each month, make sure you add another 5 companies to your list. Don’t be tempted to add 100 of new connections as you know you won’t be able to put your energy and attention to all of them. If this happens, you will likely lose more connections.
Start with small number of connection with them. Provide your best and complete services to them before including another client. This way, you will provide a formidable service to your clients.

Recap of 7 Ways You Can Reach out to B2B Customers:

Unlike direct marketing strategies, where most companies send their connection request to the mass with no differentiation or personalization, these 7 relationship-building ways will make you stand out. You will have a prospect that will be more eager to do business with you. If they aren’t ready to do business with you, at least they’ll be very likely to refer you to someone who is.

Do you know the MOST overlooked factor in SEO?
Well, it’s user behavior!
Go and approach any SEO consultants and they will offer you incredible services like:
But they overlook one  very basic point – the user behavior!
SEO will no doubt get you at the TOP of the search engine result pages (SERPs), however, user behavior will help you be there. But often times, most SEO consultant will offer you a very bad piece of advice, i.e. set up a blog/site and then perform SEO second.
This is a wrong mentality!

In fact, you need to understand there are 3 steps to SEO,

On-page SEO

1.    On-page SEO

– Is creating content (pages and blog posts) that would be easy for search engines like Google, Yahoo!, Bing to read and understand what your pages are about, index it, and display it to people (potential customers) for relevant search terms.

Off-page SEO

2.    Off-page SEO

– Refers to link building to other RELEVANT sites (forums, blogs, article directories) in order to build backlinks (link back to your site) so that people can visit your site other than search engine page.
Here are some great ways to build yourself quality backlinks.

User behavior

3.    User behavior

– How internet users interact to your site (blog commenting, forum thread posting) will tell search engines whether your site rankings is correct.

What Search Engine Robots CAN’T see?

When search engine robots crawls through your website, they can READ the content, however, they can’t gain an emotional response to it.
Consider this example “How to get more free traffic to your site.”
Search engine robots can quickly tell this site is about SEO and also understand that there’s a lot of “How to” guides out there.
But how does it know it’s better than other websites?
The main job of search engine is to offer best search result pages (SERPs) for any keyword phrase, but it must be for humans, not for robots.

How search engine robots get emotional

So far, a robot can find this site and understand its’ context but to assess if it is a good site it needs some help from humans and internet users.

Search engine can only measure:

1.    Click through rate (CTR) – The percentage of internet users who click on the site link displayed on search result page.
2.    Bounce Rate – After click through, what percentage of visitors pressed the BACK button and how quickly they pressed the button?
Google has few more advantage!
Internet marketers serious about SEO have Google Analytics installed on their site which can tell a whole lot more like:
1.    After the click through, where do visitors go?
2.    How much time they spend on your site/ on each page
So, you see, the search engine robot calculates where a site/page should rank for a particular keyword phrase.
Then they utilize the “user behavior” to determine if that first calculation was good or bad. And then, they decide whether your site should move up or move down in the search results page.
Simple, eh?

SEO UPs and DOWNs

That generally means that it’s okay to use both content and code in order to gain better rankings, but only to see them drop back again.
Unless you are getting a help of an SEO consultant that knows and understand “user-behavior” is equally important as your page URLs, titles, headers, and other SEO factors.
So, user-behavior must be a key part of any SEO campaign.
While boosting your CTR depends upon the code, however, reducing your site’s/ page’s bounce rate or increasing the average time your visitors spend on your site is a whole different ball game.

Good Design + Great Content + Coding + Links = Positive User Behavior

Most companies try to keep web design and content (SEO) separate, however, we DON’T.
Why?
How your site looks, how easy it is to navigate, and the way it encourages visitors to explore other content … all affects the bounce rate as well as average time spent on site.
That means good web design is a vital part of SEO, just like coding, content, and links are.

So, how come sites that are UGLY still rank HIGHER than other?

With SEO, everything is about competition. For example, website A with poor design but great content can rank higher provided that there isn’t a site with a great design as well as great content and SEOed in order to compete.
But it also means that Website A can topple anytime from the higher rankings as soon as another site with great content and design comes along.
Just ask online store owners!

Over the past decade, webmasters and SEO consultants has been debating whether dead (broken) links can really affect a website’s performance.
There are many SEOers who would argue that broken links will worsen user’s experience, although it may not affect their website’s rankings.
However, as search engine continuously roll out new algorithm updates, this view has changed recently.
SEO consultants around the world now fully acknowledge how dead links can impact a website’s performance.
That is the reason why most SEO consultants are focusing their effort on adhering to Google’s standards in hope it would not affect a website performance in terms of rankings.
Having a site with higher bounce rate could be disastrous to its overall rankings.

Dead links or 404 Errors

What is broken link (Dead links or 404 Errors)?

A website URL that doesn’t exists or works is called a dead link, or broken link. When you type the URL in the browser, such link will bring you to a 404 error page.
But why does broken link occur on your site?

Broken links occur on your website for several reasons, including:

  1. The page is been removed permanently
  2. The URL is placed incorrectly, and hence, you end up in a 404 page
  3. The page address is changed, but the URL attached in the link isn’t
  4. Lack of proper navigation
While few dead links, or broken links, or even 404 errors may seem normal to search engines, nonetheless, leaving unnecessary dead links on your website may be seen as a low quality website.
Not to mention it won’t escape the scrutiny of search engine spiders!
As a result, both ranking as well as the indexing of your website gets affected.

Here are few ways how broken links affects your site’s performance in search engine results, including its rankings:

Google “disapproves” broken (dead) links

1. Google “disapproves” broken (dead) links

Google have been very deliberate in its intention, as specified in its webmaster’s guidelines, to check for dead or broken links and correct HTML in your site.
While it’s okay to have few broken links that displays 404 error, having excessive amount of unchecked dead links on your site will definitely reduce its search engine rankings.

Dead Links aren’t user-friendly

2. Dead Links aren’t user-friendly

SEO services can either make or break your site. Leave too many dead links on your site, and your site visitors find it distracting, or even irritating, and move on to the next site on the search result page.
Not only this will decrease the amount of free (organic) traffic your site gets, but search engines like Google will also interpret this as site having a high bounce rate.

Broken links badly affects your site’s conversion rate

3. Broken links badly affects your site’s conversion rate

Yes, dead links will affect your conversion rate as people become discouraged to continue on when they see a blank 404 error page that doesn’t seem to guide the visitors anywhere else.
With that said, you need to quickly customize your 404 page!
Insert links to major section of your site on your 404 error page so that your visitors still have an opportunity to visit other section of your website instead of looking at the blank and ugly 404 error page.

4. Broken or dead links blocks search engine spiders

Did you know that when search engine crawlers come across broken links, they’ll face a dead end? As a result, they won’t be able to crawl further and index your site properly.
So, don’t be surprised when your site or page doesn’t appear on search engine results page (SERPs).
Major search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing considers user experience as the BIGGEST reason for high search engine ranking. And, of course, link validity is one of the key factors to enhance user experience.
So, we can conclude that broken/ dead links do affect your website’s rankings negatively as it contributes to high bounce rate of a site, which search engines interprets as something wrong with it.
That is why, it’s important you make sure your site doesn’t have more than 2 to 3 dead links.

Take Action, Don’t Procrastinate!

Remove those dead links or create a customized 404 error page as it could be one of your saving graces in terms of website ranking.
Make sure you check your pages on your site, check links in it, and update it (if need be), plus update your sitemap every time you remove a page or change a URL link to avoid having broken/dead links on your site.

It’s been a quite a few while we have been spending working with clients on their content strategies. It’s been something I wanted to get them into investing their resource into, but some clients have been harder than others to convince!
I can understand why sometimes it’s tough to buy into, but I definitely believe having a compelling content strategy in place is very crucial for most of the sites we work with.

Top 2 Commons Problems Companies Struggle with Content Marketing

The top 2 common problems that most companies have with content marketing are:
  1. General lack of ideas of the type of content they can create
  2. Lack of resource to create compelling content – no time or in-house writers
There are more, but these are the most repeated ones I come across! But the rest of this article, I hope, will help solve all these problems. All the tips given in this article are given for specific reasons –
  • Most of these strategies can be used across multiple industries, regardless of it being “boring” or not
  • They don’t require tons of time to get it done
  • Plus, they will help you get MORE traffic, links, or both!

Getting Some Inspiration

Before I share with you 5 types of content you could create, I want to give you some tools and helpful pointers on how to get inspiration for your client’s content. At times, it could be difficult for you, especially when you are writing for a client who is in a “dry” industry!

Brainstorming with the client, internally -

1. Brainstorming with the client, internally –

Don’t avoid the opportunity to brainstorm with your client as it can have many advantages, one of which could be your client approving or vetoing your edgy ideas, right away.

Analysis of your non-competitors

2. Analysis of your non-competitors –

You need to look at what your competitors are doing, right? Great! It’s important to step outside your comfort zone and see what other “cool” stuffs people are doing. Don’t be surprised when you come across an idea that could have easily applied in your own niche or concept, and to your content.

Use Spezify –

3. Use Spezify –

If your brain is frozen, simply plug a keyword or two into Spezify and see what pops in a minute or two. This smart tool goes and finds tons of date – tweets, images, and blog posts – that are currently being talked about right now!

With that said, let’s get on with 5 types of content you could create:

Video Content

1. Video Content

At the moment, video marketing is getting BIGGER and BIGGER day after day. Websites using it that are really performing well, I think, will dominate their niche in the future as well.
There are 2 different ways you can utilize video content in order to help your site.
Video content as link building tool – Getting links from YouTube is something you want to do always. In addition, you can create your own videos and use them as link bait; however, it could be difficult at times. If you have resources, then go ahead and create your own video content.
Increase click-through from SERPs – As a test, you can try to list your video showing in your SERPs that will take your visitors directly to your site rather than somewhere else like YouTube or Vimeo. I can guarantee you that it works really well and I would recommend you using something like Wista to help you with this.

Infographics

2. Infographics

To be honest, I really don’t like them that much because most of them are terrible and you can’t even classify them as infographs at all! But personally speaking, I think they can be sometimes really easier ways to get links.
Yes, they do get you backlinks. So, if you have ample of time and resource, then do them well! Infographics can be really good way to getting back links. Here is where you can find infographic designers at affordable rates.

Interactive Content

3. Interactive Content

Interactive content is more exciting than static Infographics. Personally speaking, the companies who can find the gap between their product or service and interactive content will win the race.
Interactive content attracts people to your site because they are genuinely useful. But it doesn’t end it all there. You can also convert your visitor into regular customers with right use of integration and call to action.

Question and Answer Content

4. Question and Answer Content

If you don’t want to spend extra cash on content, Q&A type of content could be the answer for you. No matter what products or services you offer, you will get common questions asked about it.
The beauty of Q&A type content is that it has a tremendous potential to attract traffic as well as links, especially in the technical fields. Plus, it is apparent that Google is becoming the best place to get answers to all of your direct questions.
There’s a current trend among users searching for questions rather than a keyword search. So, if you can position your site where people can get direct answers for their questions, not only you will get long tail traffic, but you will also begin to establish yourself as an authority in your field.
Use tools such as WordTracker Question Tool in order to get ideas of what people are asking related with your niche. Plus, look at the Google Analytics tool and filter out keywords that include things like “how,” “what,” and “can,” etc.

User Generated Content

5. User Generated Content

You may probably have heard about customer reviews as user generated content, but what about other type of content – images and videos? Just look at Amazon. They have been doing this for a long time now, but recently, smaller retailers are doing this too.
You may have to add little incentive in order to get your customers to generate content for you, but if it means just 10% off voucher, many of them will do and you have another opportunity for sale.
To sum it all, producing great content isn’t easy! But you still need to make an effort to start on a path where you can get it right.

If your website is running fine and has NEVER been attacked by Google’s updates, like Panda or Penguin updates, rest assured that your SEO techniques are sound and you DON’T need to worry.
However, there are several sites out there that have been severely affected by these algorithm just because they have been utilizing unethical SEO techniques that don’t comply with the guidelines set by Google.
That is because most SEO strategies that helped small businesses make GOOD profits before 2013 are outdated today.
Unfortunately, these outdated SEO methods are still in use, particularly by newbie in Internet Marketing (IM).
As these SEO tactics aren’t valid now, usage of such methods can lead to serious penalization from Google.

Just avoid these 7 expired SEO strategies:

Submission to Article Directories -

1. Submission to Article Directories –

For link building purposes, many website owners utilize article submission directories like Ezinearticles, Squidoo, and Articlebase, among others.
However, after Google released its first Panda update, the performances of all these high PR article directories were severely compromised.
That is why when you search for a keywords phrase on Google, you no longer see sites like Ezinearticles pop up in the search results.
Instead of using the same old (expired) SEO strategies, you should now focus your SEO efforts on building genuine relationships with several other bloggers who are in the same niche as you are in order to get HIGH quality backlinks.

Reciprocal Linking

2. Reciprocal Linking

For many years, exchanging links with other “random” sites was the usual way to gain extra backlinks in order to gain rankings in Google.
However, the usage of such tactic will tell the search engine that you are trying to influence rankings by earning irrelevant and cheap backlinks. Just put yourself in your visitor’s shoes before building backlinks.
After clicking a link, wouldn’t you get frustrated when you come across a site that is irrelevant to what you had read in the search result page?
That’s why you need to avoid linking to “random” sites from now on.
Instead, getting reciprocal links from HIGHLY relevant niche is the way to go in order to earn trust from Google, and ultimately, good rankings as a result.

Using “Thin” (Poor) Content

3. Using “Thin” (Poor) Content

Content is still “King” and one of the most important aspect of any successful website. High quality content that are easy to understand, fresh, and interesting can/ and only bring you TONS of FREE traffic!
But previously, many site owners, in their bid to rank quickly, used “spun,” “rehashed,” “plagiarized” content. In fact, they used software to generate duplicate content.
Not surprisingly, these spun content did very well as it contained all the targeted keywords!
However, after Panda and Penguin updates, sites using such old and unethical SEO strategies were manually tracked down and penalized, and sometimes, even dropped from Google’s search engine results.
So these days, if you aren’t using informative, fresh, and interesting, content, your site gets drop off from your current rankings.
And if Google finds you using plagiarized content to influence search engine rankings, they will penalize your site. Period!

Typography1

4. Keyword Stuffing

After building a list of profitable keywords to optimize and target their site and content, most website owners made another mistake of using the same set of keywords over and over again throughout their site.
That’s not acceptable anymore!
Previously, Google didn’t notice this SEO strategy, known simply as “keyword stuffing,” used by many site owners, however, this tactic can put your site into BIG trouble.
Why is “keyword stuffing” such a BIG deal?
Well … the content reads very artificial and seems as if it was created in order to influence search engine rankings, particularly by desperate SEOs who wanted to make some quick bucks out of cheap SEO efforts.
Now, Google strictly directs site owners to create content that read natural.
So your best bet would be to use keywords naturally in the content and whenever you feel it is repeating, just use other variation of it. Simple!

Use of Automation Tools

5. Use of Automation Tools

Few years ago, many so-called “SEO Gurus” used to utilize automated tools to influence the site’s performance on search engines and make HUGE profits.
These tools helped them generate hundreds of plagiarized or spun content within few minutes and promote them using social accounts without having to spend hours on it manually.
However, Google has always been spending HUGE resources and money on providing the best search results in order to offer the best user experience than ever before.
The use of these automated tools meant they could reduce the quality of their search results as content aren’t relevant, natural, and interesting anymore!
Plus, social media is all about building genuine relationship with your targeted audience and not spam them.

Google the “Only” Source of Traffic

6. Google the “Only” Source of Traffic

Most sites are focusing on getting organic traffic from only one source, i.e. the Google search engine result page (SERPs).
However, Google’s main purpose was NOT to serve as a traffic source. It was meant to serve its clients with highly relevant search results.
Over the years, many websites have been focusing solely on Google for traffic.
Now, Google has become smarter and only displays sites in the search results that utilizes diverse source of traffic, like social media, article directories, file sharing sites, and social bookmarking sites, etc.

Implementing Tactics without a Strategy

7. Implementing Tactics without a Strategy

This is an “age old” pattern that I see repeat over and over again, especially by beginners in Internet Marketing – they simply do not have a plan that WORKS!
In other words, they just set out into SEO, without having strategies to build their site rankings.
  1. That is why old SEO methods are still visible today
  2. Plus, that is why, most people fail at Internet Marketing in general
I cannot put emphasis on this point enough: make a plan for a strategy, and work it out! Test, test, test … all the time. Rinse, and repeat.
Since early 2011, there have been several major changes for search engines to follow new direction.
In this new movement, Google has been the leader to integrate metrics that focuses on human browsing experience as well as the content analysis.
With the Google’s recent Panda and Penguin updates (along with other ranking factors such as EMD, page layout update), the message is clear for SEOs: Google’s goal is to give priority to sites for higher search rankings according to how well human evaluate them.
Google asked help from content reviewers in order to recognize patterns and factors those real human readers/visitors consider when they want to assess a website.
As a result, the job of ranking sites higher in search engines for specific queries have become pretty much complex than ever before.
In other words, sites now have a clear direction from search engines to follow their guidelines that are considered to be the standards for SEO practices, like:
  1. Proper use of tags and link structure
  2. Focus on creating content including keyword phrases that will rank your site better
  3. But also, maintain a balance to produce content for people too, and not just for the search engines.

So, here are few new steps to incorporate new SEO strategy, while still keeping with the Google’s direction:

Figure out what’s working and what’s not!

1. Figure out what’s working and what’s not!

First, create a list of every little SEO strategies you have been utilizing so far that aren’t going the way you had imagined, and a list other things that are working for your site, and other things that you’re unsure about.
Just make sure you include every little aspect of your SEO strategy in this list.
This list will point you to the right direction in the future as to what you need to perform, what changes you must include, and what other things you need to completely avoid.
Just don’t leave any stones unturned!

Talk with your SEO consultant

2. Talk with your SEO consultant

If you have employed an SEO consultant to look after your SEO campaigns, give them a call and get their insights as they may have new ideas so that you learn about new SEO trends, practices, and strategies.
This way, you know you’re following the Google’s new direction.

Do Research and Discuss with SEO consultant for Alternatives

3. Do Research and Discuss with SEO consultant for Alternatives

Once you have known what SEO strategies is working and which ones are useless, or outdated, you will be in a position to begin amending additional SEO tactics to make your SEO efforts really successful.
In order to focus on something new or incorporate new SEO strategy, it always pays to talk with an SEO consultant.
There are several different reasons why your current SEO efforts require a new direction, and doing it yourself could be an overwhelming thing for you.
Every site is different and hence every SEO strategy must be “customized!”
Hence, find an expert SEO consultant who deals with several different types of circumstances and assist in creating something specific for you.

Putting Your New found SEO Strategy in Action

4. Putting Your New found SEO Strategy in Action

Once you’ve figured out your problem areas and got input from SEO consultant regarding new focus and strategy you must follow, it’s time you …
  1. Place those plans into action in order to get where you want to be
  2. Secondly, DON’T plunge into implementing SEO plans without consulting an expert. Minor changes are okay, but when you’re trying to perform a major redirect, it’s high time you find help from an SEO expert.
  3. Thirdly, ensure that you know how to measure the performance of your new strategy. Use Google Analytics, for example, to keep track of how your site is performing over all. Don’t limit yourself to Google Analytics, though.
In fact, find other tools to implement more specific SEO strategies like “link building” and “social media success” so that you’re always following Google’s guidelines as well as leaving nothing unturned in your new SEO campaign.

New Focus! New Strategy! Keeping in Google’s Direction

Even major SEO changes don’t immediately work.
Just be patient and wait for several months before you see some solid results.
However, if you find once again that you’re not in better position (search rankings don’t change at all), then it’s probably time for new focus, new SEO strategy, and change your direction once again.
In other words, this might indicate you to change your SEO Company or hiring a new SEO consultant who can HELP!
Remember that most SEO campaigns frequently utilize new SEO strategy while still following Google Webmaster guidelines as well as Matt Cutts video suggestions.
However, as we already know, Google have all the power to change what they want and when they want.
With that said, as Google change, your SEO strategies must also change. Simply put it, it’s okay to feel that you frequently have to find a new focus, a new SEO strategy, while keeping in Google’s direction.

Last week, we released the result of a survey of Google News Ranking Factors with some of the top news sites in the business. You may have already heard about the Top 10 Positive Factors for high Google rankings, but we think it would even more useful for you to take a closer look at the Top 10 Negative Factors that hurt website rankings.
Recently, Google conducted a survey and found many local news publishers repeating a lot of SEO mistakes that eventually hurt their website rankings. So, here’s a list of top 10 negative factors that contribute to low rankings of your website:

1. Duplicate Content

The biggest negative factor for search engine rankings was duplicate content. Although there were many publishers creating duplicate content, Google survey confirmed that they also used other sources for creating scrapped, spunned, and plagiarized content.
Every day, Google is becoming smarter at finding out the original source of content many websites use. As a result, Google have degraded the search engine rankings of such websites that borrow their content from alternate sources.
So, next time you distribute the press release on your website, remember to separate the original news content from the press releases by creating two different sections for each and inserting “nofollow” tags in each links for the press releases.

2.  Writing Vague and Abstract Headlines

Abstract headlines don’t include targeted keywords in it. It may seem creative not to include keywords, but they aren’t still targeted. It’s okay to write titles like “Ho No!”, or “Do Be Do Be Do”, or any other vague titles you can think of, but in order to see raise in search engine rankings, you need to stick to what works. Learn how to do the keyword research and then include important keyword in your title.
Make sure the keyword also fit in naturally instead of appearing “stuffed”.

3.  Sites Not Using Google News Sitemap

Many news sites aren’t using Google News sitemap. I am surprised! Using Google News Sitemap has a dramatic impact on the crawling, indexing, and rankings of your site. And the best part is that it’s very easy to implement, too. So what are you waiting for? Use Google News sitemap and see a boost in your search engine rankings, now!

4. Publishing Low Quality Content

No excuse for bad writing anymore. Google News can manually and algorithmically figure out sites that publish low quality content – mis-spelt words, poor grammar and punctuation, and generally low quality content.

5.  Blocking Googlebot via Robots.txt

If you are blocking Googlebot, intentionally or unknowingly, then check your robots.txt file really fast. This is one of the old-school SEO blunder many news website repeat, over and over, calling their SEO consultant every night.
If free traffic has stalled, then one of the first things you must do is check your robots.txt file. Make sure you don’t include these two lines in the file: “User-agent: *” and “Disallow: /”
Let Googlebot find your site and improve search engine rankings.

6.  Poor Site Performance

If your site is producing a lot of 500 or 400 errors and loads slowly, eventually your site’s ranking will drop too. Google always want to send traffic to fast loading pages. To monitor your website’s performance, you can use variety of free tools, like Google Webmaster Tools (look “crawl stats” and “site performance” report) and Google’s Page Speed Tool.
One way you can improve your site’s performance is to use a script that will keep track of server logs whenever Googlebot receives 4xx or 5xx errors. Send this log to your SEO consultant notifying them of errors. Whoever responsible for that poor performance will be busy removing those errors if they don’t want more emails from you.

7. Poor Citation Rank

You won’t get up in Google’s ranking if you can’t get other websites to link to you. Citation Rank is a measure of how well your story, post, or blogs gets linked from other sources or referenced on other sites, specifically on other news sites.

8. Low PageRank Domain

Another reason why your site is suffering on Google ranking is that the overall SEO program isn’t competitive. That means you aren’t getting all the basics right.
So, make sure your website is accessible by major search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing. Write articles targeting profitable keywords. Get other sites link and reference your site, regularly.

9.  New Site

Just like new sites have harder time getting high rankings in search engine results, new sites with low or absolutely “zero” trust and history will have a difficult time to rank as well. Brand new sites, therefore, must demonstrate authority and trust by getting linked and referenced from other well-established and authoritative sites.
Get your site shared in popular social media networks like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Google Plus. Get your content well-clicked relative to other news websites for a specific news story. Instead of covering a broad range of topic, focus on specific niche for proper rankings.

10. Using Syndicated Content Having the Same Titles as the Source

This may sound like the same things as duplicate content, but we still think that this case deserves a little more attention as more and more news organizations are relying on syndicated content, without even taking time to rewrite the whole content.
So it is better in the long run for you to produce your own content.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Explained…
Search engine optimization (SEO) is important for people owning and running online business because it makes their website more accessible and easy to understand for both users and search engine robots. Even though search engines have become complex and sophisticated over time, nonetheless, they are still unable to find and understand the content of the page as humans do. SEO assists in telling search engine robots what the page is about and how they can be useful to its readers.
SEO is also much simpler than you think! Google gives more priority to sites that are relevant and authoritative and make it more visible. The relevance is measured by analyzing the content, words what you and your visitors read, while authority of the site is determine by the number and quality of other pages that links to the page on your site. Links, according to Google, are like votes.
So, how will you make your website more visible in search results? It’s simple: Write great content, build more quality links for SEO success. Google promotes authority pages in its rankings. As a website owner, or a publisher, it’s your responsibility to build authority pages. Basically, you write quality content and build quality links back to your site.
Quality content use important keywords – search terms people often use while searching for topic, product, or services – spread out in several sections of the page (URLs, titles, headings, sub-titles, first and last sentence, alt tags, and so on). This is also known as “on-page SEO”. Likewise, as a website owner, you also want to get links from well-established and high authority sites in your niche or industry.
So, more quality content you create – offering fresh, unique, and useful information that adds value for the readers – and more high authority links you bring back to it, more likely you will get votes from Google and successfully manage to push your pages on its first page.

Here’s a simple formula to get better search engine rankings:

  1. Write quality content – useful content that adds value and includes major keywords – making it easy for people to search for information, products, and services of your company
  2. Build high quality links back to these content demonstrating how important they are
  3. Keep repeating step 1 and 2, over and over and see search engine rankings rise
As we have established, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a basic task every website owner perform making sure their site and pages are quickly found in major search engines – Google, Yahoo, and Bing – for keyword phrase your visitors (potential buyers) are using to search for your products and services. But ask the same question: “What is SEO?” and most SEO companies will exaggerate and turn into a science that you will never understand and leave you dazed and confused. Even after couple of hours, you won’t know what SEO is.

Getting Links to your Site is Important, How Do You Get Them?

Getting links back to your pages are crucial, particularly getting at the top of search engine results. But don’t ever confuse quality with quantity. One of two dozen of quality links from relevant sources – similar blogs, forums, and business – to your page will have much more impact on SEO rankings than, let’s say, building 1000s of low-quality links to it. Google has become smarter these days and can identify sites with low-quality backlinks. If you don’t correct this on time, Google will not only punish you with low search engine rankings, but also completely block or stop your site because they consider you as “spammers”.
So, again, search engine optimization is a process to increase the site’s rankings by creating high quality content and building links back to it. You can either do SEO yourself, or hire a professional SEO company to do this for you. Whichever method you imply, make sure you’re getting value out of your investment – money, time, and efforts – by getting high-quality links from other sites.

In Summary

Here’s a summary for ‘What is SEO?’: Build a site, create quality content – unique, fresh, and useful – that people are searching for, and then share them with others – relevant blogs, forums, article directories, social networks – to see your website traffic explode!
